Outside of Jesus Messiah, our spiritual community is either non-existent or hopelessly distant. The latter half of Ephesians 2 focuses on the corporate dimensions of Christ's work of peace on the cross and how that through his body, he killed hostility so that we in turn might be one new body. Simply stated, Jesus makes peace between the hopelessly distant.

The work of Jesus Christ is mainly two-fold: his humiliation and his exaltation. The ascension of Jesus Christ is an oft forgotten doctrine with rich meaning and relevance for the church today. It forms part of Christ's exaltation. Upon his ascension, did Jesus return to heaven only as God leaving his manhood behind? What is Jesus doing now in heaven and what does it matter for us here on earth now? This message tries to "blow off the dust" to a vital doctrine today elucidating the historical fact and current reality that Jesus is the exalted Son.

We all have messed up priorities that need constant recalibrating or redemption. The disciple under the King's reign trusts in the King's priorities. What will you do this year that will outlast your life?

The power of God's saving work is still at work in you whether your realize it or not. The Apostle Paul models a prayer of thanksgiving for the faith of a fledgling church. He praises God the Father for the unstoppable nature of salvation specifically for the new ethic, faithful example and passionate evangelists that the Gospel produces.
