Holy Trinity Church Youth (HTCY)

HOLY TRINITY CHURCH YOUTH (HTCY) IS A MINISTRY FOR 6TH-12TH GRADE STUDENTS,

OPERATING WEEKLY WITH THREE GOALS IN MIND:

ONE. Provide consistent, faithful Bible teaching

TWO. Offer mentoring and discipleship from adult volunteers

THREE. Cultivate lasting, serious relationships from student to student

Our team of adult volunteers is working to create opportunities for discipleship, and to see students establishing lasting relationships with one another, regardless of where they live in the city, what schools they attend, or what cultures they come from. Here’s how we do it from week to week:

SATURDAY YOUTH GROUP is our primary gathering. It begins with a good game to warm everyone up, and moves into a time of Bible teaching that is focused on the teenage experience. We meet on Saturdays from 7:00 – 8:45 p.m. at The University Church (5655 S. University Ave.) in Hyde Park (57th and University).

HIGH-SCHOOL HANGOUT (“H20”) is an informal hangout for high school students right after Saturday youth group. After the junior-high students leave at 8:45 p.m., the high-schoolers are welcome to stay until 10:00.

DISCIPLESHIP SMALL GROUPS (DSG’s) take place on Sunday mornings in the Downtown and Hyde Park Congregations. In small groups led by adult volunteers, the students spend the year reading and discussing books together. Downtown groups are currently reading “The Prodigal God” (Tim Keller), and students in Hyde Park are reading “Disciplines of a Godly Young Man” (Kent Hughes) for the boys, and “A Woman’s Wisdom” (Lydia Brownback) for the girls. Books are provided for all students who attend.

STUDENT LEADERSHIP is a chance for older students to develop their hearts for ministry with discipleship projects and adult mentorship. Projects could include teaching at a retreat, co-leading a DSG, or creating an entrepreneurial ministry project. Juniors and seniors in high school are preferred, and must complete an application process.

FALL AND WINTER RETREATS Twice a year, we travel to a retreat center for one to three days of fellowship, Bible teaching and lots of fun and memory-making. The fall retreat happens in the first weeks of the school year, and the winter retreat usually comes around February.

SUMMER VACATION holds the most fun events of the year for HTCY. We meet every other week for Bible studies, and on the in-between weeks we meet for beach days, mini-golf, boat rides and other local activities. It’s a great chance for students to build their relationships with one another, and to have something to look forward to every week.
