Summer Association for Youth Outreach
June 20 - July 31, 2010
HOPE FOR CHICAGO created SAYO (Summer Association for Youth Outreach) in 2003 as a summer urban ministry internship. SAYO students live together in intentional community as they immerse themselves in the life of the inner city and work with urban ministries. They experience firsthand urban neighborhood life, social-economic, ethnic, and integration issues. Interns have the opportunity to grow in their understanding of God’s heart for the city as they examine issues such as injustice, poverty, racism, racial identity, reconciliation and how the gospel responds to these issues. SAYO also challenges individuals to broaden their view of the kingdom of God as they consistently consider how God calls us to do justice and preach grace in our day.
