Supporting the Mission of God

In this passage, Paul explains two ways in which the church in Rome can serve. He begins by illustrating that financially supporting the other members of the body is a form of fellowship, which is the fullness of the blessings of Christ. He then exhorts the church in Rome to strive in prayer on his behalf, taking part in the Gospel work of God.

What Do You Do with the Gospel?

Romans 15:14 begins the final section of Romans that includes an appeal for the believers in Rome to join Paul in taking the gospel where it had not been preached. This helps us to see that those who have believed the gospel and challenged to apply the gospel should seek to share the gospel and partner with those who do the same.

A Living Sacrifice

In these two verses, Paul shifts from his courtroom defense of doctrine to an exhortation of living a life of worship. The call to be a living sacrifice is a total one, demanding our whole lives and all that we are. However, it is through the Word of God and through the Spirit that we are able live the life of a living sacrifice.
